After adding in last night’s totals from the Pennsylvania primary, Dr. Paul has officially received (counting caucuses) over 950,000 votes, and has received over twice the number of votes that he did during his run in 1988!

Reaching a number like this, and knowing that there are untold numbers of supporters still out there (who did not register in time, or could not vote due to not being registered Republican), should be a great encouragement for us.

However, in order to achieve our goals of taking back the Republican Party and restoring adherence to the Constitution, we’ve got to bring a lot more people on board. It’s up to us to continue to spread Dr. Paul’s message of freedom, peace, and prosperity and to continue attending local Republican meetings and working to get delegates for Dr. Paul elected to the National Convention.

As frustration with the economy and America’s foreign policy grows, and as more people realize that all the talk of “change” going on in D.C. is just empty rhetoric, our numbers will continue to grow - but only if we keep up our efforts.

One such incident has been reported in the news as of this posting: http://stlplatform.org/content/view/234/122/

Delegates who are not necessarily Ron Paul supporters have also voiced concerns that they, too, were disenfranchised due to the manner in which the Conventions were conducted. It is my understanding that video, audio, written records and eye witness testimony are being collected at this time.

<![CDATA[Senate District Conventions … some good, some not so good]]> Wed, 02 Apr 2008 01:37:07 CDT <![CDATA[Senate District Conventions … some good, some not so good]]> Wed, 02 Apr 2008 01:37:07 CDT News from our Conventions last Saturday has been nonstop. Even before my own convention adjourned, my in-box was full and I had several voice mails waiting! Apparently not every convention was conducted according to Republican Party of Texas Rules, several blatantly completely ignoring Robert’s Rules of Order. There are recourses, of course, and there will be several challenges at the State Convention. We prepared for our conventions by studying those rules, completely understanding the Texas Platform, and submitted our names to the Nominations Committees for State. Many of us made it, some with little trouble, and some were not so fortunate, in spite of having done everything to prove we are conservative and are “real” Republicans.

One story in Tuesday’s Victoria Advocate caught my eye…..here’s a quote:

Actions at the convention highlight what the grassroots movement is about, said Hans Klingler, director of political and communications operations for the Texas GOP.

“That is as true an indication in the excitement and passion people have in the state and we think that is a positive thing going into an election year,” he said. “That’s what grassroots politics is all about. Getting into these conventions and having spirited debate and dialogue about the rules and spirit and direction of party as a whole in Texas.”

The party members’ passion is a positive thing moving into the state convention in June, the national convention in September and on into the general election in November, Klinger said.

(I have to agree with Hans — there was plenty of “spirited debate” to go around…. we certainly have “passion” … it’s good to know that it’s a positive thing moving into the state convention!!)

From this brief introduction I believe you’ll see how the book as a whole will have a lasting impact for the freedom cause.

Also, a bunch of us participated in yesterday’s luncheon with Michael Q. Sullivan, Ron Paul’s former press secretary and current president of ‘Empower Texans’. He addressed the subject of transparency in government. Something much needed in various branches and institutes of government here in Hawaii.

The Chairman of the Missouri GOP advised the Campaign that it would not provide access to information or an extension to file a challenge in those caucuses where the GOP’s own Rules were blatantly broken. Republicans now realize that their vote for President of the United States is at serious risk. The Missouri Primary is a straw poll of Missouri voters, a “preferential primary”. Delegates are elected to represent those voters. This process is managed by the Rules of the Missouri Republican Party.

If Delegates cannot protect their rights and the rights of the individuals they represent, then the message from the GOP is clear - Republican voters do not have the power to make decisions through voting, but rather only those who control the GOP have the power to choose our next President.

<![CDATA[The convention is less than a week away. Are you ready?]]> Mon, 24 Mar 2008 02:06:22 CDT <![CDATA[The convention is less than a week away. Are you ready?]]> Mon, 24 Mar 2008 02:06:22 CDT I know I do not have a complete count of everyone who plans to be a delegate. If you did not receive an email about our conference call (to help prepare you for the convention), then that is because I do not have you on my list of delegates or do not have your email. Please contact me and I will tell you what you need to know.

There are still a hundred empty seats and it’s still not too late to sign up. By my count, about 15% of the delegates attending will be Ron Paul supporters. This does not reflect the percentage of people who voted for Ron Paul on February 5th. If we hope to have the same impact at the convention that we did at the caucuses, we need more of you to step forward and become a delegate.

The Fargo-Moorhead Meet Up has raised some money to help people pay for the convention fees. Please let me know if that will make a difference between your going or not and I will put you in touch with the person handling the F-M Meet Up funds.

Even if you cannot go to the convention, you can still influence the outcome. This week the ND GOP held meeting around the state asking for input on the Party Resolution. Those of you who attended one of those meetings know what resolutions have been introduced. Please contact the person from your district appointed to the Resolution Committee and tell him/her what your concerns are. Please encourage him/her to support resolutions for limited government, greater liberty and a return to true conservative values.

If you’d like to introduce resolutions, you can either do this by submitting them to the Resolution Committee Member from your district, or send them to Mike Schatz, ND GOP Executive Director. His email is mike.schatz@ndgop.org. The deadline for submitting resolutions is Monday, March 24th—so don’t delay. If you want good resolutions adopted at the convention, we need good resolutions introduced.

I have posted the names of the ND Republican Resolution Committee or you can contact your District Chairman to find out who the Resolution Committee Member is from your district.

You should know that the ND GOP leadership has been extraordinarily accommodating towards Ron Paul Republicans. Party rules do not require them to ask for input or hold meetings around the state. Normally the resolutions are introduced and voted on by Resolution Committee members and then the slate is presented to the Convention as a whole, with little or no input from the grass roots. But Party leadership is asking for our input and holding meetings around the state because they want Ron Paul Republicans to have a voice.

I hope you will take advantage of the courtesies party leadership is extending to us—get informed about the resolution process, how the party functions and what role you can play.

Our delegation packets were available for pick up. These packets will now be mailed out by the end of the week according to party officials.

I want to thank the handful of volunteers for helping to set-up, break-down and sign out delegate packets. Our county chair wrote and thanked us for:

“… a great group of volunteers. (We) could not have done it without them.”

On Friday outside of the State Capitol our Assistant State Coordinator, Daniel Brackins, announced his candidacy for Congressional District 1 next to the Hawaii Liberty Bell. He addressed many issues finishing off:

“The good news is that we can make America great again by not only electing liberty minded people into office, but also by spreading the ideas of freedom.”

Our hard (and fun) work for nearly a year now is working for significant change.

We have many more victories to win!

<![CDATA[Alaska Republican State Convention this weekend]]> Wed, 12 Mar 2008 11:42:52 CDT Once again, I’d like to thank everyone for all the hard work they have done over this last year for Dr. Paul.

The Alaska Republican State Convention is this weekend, and it should be a great opportunity for all the Ron Paul supporters from across this great state to have a chance to meet each other and work together to bring Liberty to the forefront of the Republican Party.

If you are a delegate to the Alaska Republican State Convention who supports Ron Paul and I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with you yet, please give me call at 321-412-4018.

If you are an alternate; this is going to be a very close convention, there will be several votes where one person will make the difference. We definitely need every well-informed and freedom loving voter that we can get. Contact your District Chairman to see if any seats have become available in your District.

I hear that the grass roots supporters are planning having a big sign waving event in downtown Anchorage in front of the Captain Cook at noon on Saturday, March 15th to help encourage and support all of our hardworking and patriotic Ron Paul delegates.

I expect great things from the Last Frontier, and the people of Alaska haven’t disappointed me yet.

Thank you all once again,

Stephen Farrington
Alaska State Field Coordinator

All over the metroplex we’re hearing reports of Ron Paul people taking delegate slots or full conventions. We’re passing our resolutions in precinct after precinct, sometimes with ease, sometimes with spirited debate, sometimes with serious resistance. You guys didn’t just go through the motions, you completely OWNED your neighborhoods and turned them into Ron Paul country. THIS is a Revolution.

Pay close attention to the start time and do not start early.

Conversely, if you arrive prior to the start time and the convention has already begun and/or major business is taken care of before the posted start time, you should contact a resource person for guidance and possible instructions for holding a rump convention.

<![CDATA[Attention Ron Paul Delegates and Alternates]]> Mon, 03 Mar 2008 12:53:50 CST All County delegates and alternates (and all Ron Paul supporters) should plan to attend their County Assembly/Conventions this Saturday, March 8th. Also, if you are a registered Republican, and did not get a delegate seat, please still come to the assembly! Just by being there, you could still get a delegate seat!

Please arrive early to register, and bring a checkbook/cash (about $15-30), photo ID, and your Voter Registration card (this may not be required depending on the County).

The purpose of the Assembly/Convention will be to:

A. Nominate Republican Candidates for County and State Offices (ie, Commissioner, House and Senate District, etc.).
B. Elect delegates and alternates to serve at:
• Colorado State Republican Assembly/Convention
• Congressional District Assembly/Convention
C. Adopt County Resolutions/Platform

Please note that County Central Committee bylaws state that:
• Proxies are not allowed (ie, you must show up to participate)
• Any delegate vacancy (due to any reason) shall be filled immediately from the alternates in attendance from the precinct in which there is a vacancy, and alternates shall be seated as delegates by numerical order, beginning with the first alternate .

Here is a list of County Assembly/Conventions for the major Colorado counties on March 1st and March 8th. For any County not listed, please check your County GOP website or call our Ron Paul office at 877-573-7933 for assistance.

<![CDATA[Another productive day of conventions]]> Sun, 02 Mar 2008 14:42:21 CST We had some significant wins at county and senate district conventions yesterday. SD 60 took a majority of the delegates, as did Wright County. Other BPOUs also had good numbers, pulling in a third of so of the delegates to Congressional District and State conventions.

The Wright County GOP blog had this to say about our people:

Ron Paul’s loyal followers were in attendance and garnered a significant number of delegate and alternate positions to the CD6 and State Conventions. Considering they bothered to organize and operated politely within the rules of the convention I think we have to acknowledge their efforts and encourage their engagement in the party.
